Our progress

All recommendations have been delivered in response to the landmark Not now, not ever report of the Special Taskforce on Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland.

The Delivery of recommendations—Not now, not ever: Putting an end to domestic and family violence in Queensland report provides a snapshot of activities undertaken by government and non-government organisations to implement each of the 140 recommendations as at 30 September 2019.

The Year 8 highlights card provides an overview of our achievements so far in Queensland, with community, business and government working together to create real and lasting change.

However, we know significant reform takes time and there is still more to do.

Our ongoing actions are underpinned and guided by our Domestic and family violence prevention strategy 2016–2026 (the strategy) and supporting action plans.

The strategy’s Fourth action plan builds on our significant work to date and captures the Queensland Government’s domestic and family violence (DFV) reform commitment. This includes the Queensland Government response to the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce’s first report on coercive control. There are also a number of initiatives under the Fourth action plan that align with recommendations made by the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce's second report, noting the intersection of sexual violence and DFV. The Fourth action plan also captures priorities identified from an independent evaluation of the Third action plan and a range of other DFV-related reports.

To achieve our vision of a Queensland free from DFV we are continuing to drive change around the following 3 foundational elements.
