Framework for Practice
Introducing a framework for practice was a key initiative for Youth Justice. It was announced as part of the Youth Justice Strategy Action Plan 2019-2021 and released in June 2020.
The aim of the Youth Justice Framework for Practice is to confirm and share the underlying values, principles, knowledge bases and skills that are central to:
- driving improvements in youth offending outcomes
- keeping communities safe.
The framework describes:
- what we do
- how we do it
- why we do it the way we do it.
It also sets the standard for high quality practice, programs and services now and into the future to ensure we continue to provide the best possible service to all of Queensland.
The framework guides us to strengthen our relationships with our government and non-government partners and community stakeholders across the broader youth justice system.
It helps us ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural perspectives and experiences inform and are central to all of our work.
We developed the Youth Justice Framework for Practice Foundations Youth Justice Framework for Practice Foundations and Youth Justice Framework for Practice visual overview Youth Justice Framework for Practice visual overview in consultation with over 1000 stakeholders, including:
- more than 600 staff across the state
- nearly 70 young people
- more than 300 stakeholders.
