Reshaping the Disability Services Act 2006

As Queensland transitioned to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), we reviewed the Disability Services Act 2006 to ensure we have laws in place to reflect the changing landscape of how supports for people with disability are funded and delivered across Australia.

The Queensland Government’s role in the disability sector is also changing. Moving forward, our primary focus will be championing accessibility and inclusion of people with disability within the community.

As part of the review of the Act, we developed a list of ideas and options for changes to the legislation in the options paper Reshaping the Disability Services Act 2006: an inclusive and accessible Queensland (PDF, 878 KB) Reshaping the Disability Services Act 2006: an inclusive and accessible Queensland (DOCX, 50 KB) (and its Easy Read version (PDF, 7.6 MB) Easy Read version (DOCX, 38 KB)) and then invited the community to let us know what they thought about the proposed changes.
